Freedom Party!
Happy 4th of July! I really think Mother Nature needs to take a prozac because this weather is stupid. Luckily, we decided to have our party yesterday. Every year, we host a 4th of July party complete with a fireworks show. We live on a good chunk of land so there is never a shortage of space. This year, our Freedom Party had an 80’s theme. The outfits were absolutely ridiculous amazing but I kind of like my friends so you won’t see any of them here 🙂
Our Workout of the Day
We started the day off with a workout from Crossfit Linchpin because you can’t host a party and eat your face off without exercising first. I find myself doing a lot of their wods recently. They described it as “Brutally Simplistic” and boy were they right.
30 Minutes
Place a 135/95lb barbell on your back & move it for max distance
We made it about 1.5 miles. Our neighbors probably think we’re crazy. I could feel everything in my body working, from my arches to my shoulders. And my hip flexors 100% feel it today. There’s nothing like walking uphill with a loaded barbell.
Freedom Party Goodness
I love hosting parties. I get most of my recipes from Pinterest. I mean, who doesn’t? Every year, someone in our circle is pregnant so I’m accustomed to making mocktails. I made sure to label them this time around because no one wants to be responsible for getting the wrong person drunk.

Freedom Party Attire
I’m not a fan of buying clothes I will never wear again and I didn’t even think to go to Goodwill for my outfit so I focused on buying reusable items. I feel the amount of hairspray, teasing and crimping makes up for my lack of neon colors. Oh and there’s a reason 80’s hair is dead. My head is still sore.
It has taken me years to figure out how to dress my body as muscles have complicated many a dressing room scenario. Certain brands make me feel like I’m stuck in a sausage casing. Being comfortable in my own skin is something I’m still learning to do. I don’t think any woman is ever completely satisfied with their appearance but that’s what keeps me motivated! Chasing progress, not perfect. Overall, our Freedom Party went very well. No one blew anything up, there were only a couple of small, contained fires and everyone still has all 10 fingers and toes. #Merica
