I distinctly remember a conversation I had with another mom about parenting. Without going into details because I refuse to be all sancti-mommy, the phrase “I manage” was used and I got to thinking. I don’t want to just manage because just maanaging is not good enough for me. I want to be great at everything! That means when it comes to parenting, I will do whatever I can to raise healthy and happy kids.
I fully believe that if you’re struggling with something, seeking the help of a professional will do a world of good. It is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. It means you’re smart enough to know when you’re out of your league. We are not equipped to handle every problem but someone is. I honestly don’t think counseling is a magic bullet but for my oldest, her just talking to someone for one hour has done wonders. She seems happier overall and that’s what we want – happy babies, even though I’m constantly reminded by her that she’s not a baby anymore. [insert eye rolling emoji]
