Happy Memorial Day! When I think of Memorial Day, I think of the sacrifice made by military families and the blanket of freedom they provide us. Freedom to live our lives as we choose. Freedom to travel the globe. Freedom to take my boy to Punta Cana without thinking twice about it. I’m actually a military brat. Both of my parents served 20+ years in the Marine Corps. My father fought in the Vietnam War and as a result suffered from severe PTSD, but let’s save that for another time. My grandfather served in the Marine Corp as well. Their sacrifice, along with all other military personnel is the reason my babies can grow up the way they are. So let’s remember why this holiday exists. It’s not just another 3 day weekend.
Now on to the fun stuff. Baby boy has had his passport stamped 6 times in his 7 months of life. I know he won’t remember this but it’s nice to experience new things with him.
We stayed at the Punta Cana Westin Resort. I definitely would NOT take my other two children here. It’s not the most kid-friendly resort but the baby isn’t very noisy so we were able to make it work. Everyone loves a baby! We had our dinners pretty early and went for cocktails in the lounge once baby boy was asleep in his stroller.
The highlight of my trip was our visit to the Ecological Reserve. They have multiple trails but since I was baby wearing, we chose the short one. 20 minutes to the Lagoon, 10 minutes to play in the water, and a 20 minute walk back. Our resort had a shuttle that ran every hour so it was perfect.
We had dinner at Bamboo twice. It’s advertised as being a 5 diamond restaurant. I can see why. If you’re ever in Punta Cana, this is a must. Everything from their cocktails to their desserts were to die for. Thanks to Bamboo, passion fruit is my new obsession.
A week of doing nothing was so refreshing but I was definitely ready to come home. I missed my routine and so did the little one. I feel ready to tackle the rest of the homeschool year and a new training program!
