Motivation Monday! These next 8-12 days are going to be a grind so I need some motivation to get me through. The day after regionals, George and I (and Maddox) are jetting off to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. At the end of last year, we made a “McKenzie Family Vacation” travel list and it is currently hanging in my living room. Sounds cheesy but we want the girls to be able to dream big and learn to plan early in life. On it, we listed places that the babies and adults want to visit.
A few of our place to go are:
Lego Land – we went there in March so this is scratched off our list
- Dominican Republic
- All the east coast National Parks
- Dollywood (yes, Dollywood) – we’re going there for Father’s Day so guess who’s idea that was 🙂
You get the point. So for my birthday, we’re checking off the Dominican Republic. I love the beach and the sun and casinos so what a perfect way to combine all 3! Punta Cana looks absolutely beautiful so I’m excited to check it out.
We’ll be staying at the Westin Punta Cana Resort and Club and we’re staying on points which is even better! I’ve heard great things about the resort but not such good things about driving over there, so we won’t be renting a car like we did in Grand Cayman. The flight is direct from Atlanta and after our last experience returning to the US, I’m rebooking our flight home so it’s direct as well. We’ll, unfortunately, have to stay until Saturday now but I think we’ll manage.
After our trip to Grand Cayman, we realized we forgot some essentials when visiting a tropical location. Must haves are sunscreen (duh, right?) and a floating raft for Maddox. He absolutely adores the water but I had to hold him the whole time which is not ideal with an active boy. Plus I’m excited to show off a few new items I’ve added to my wardrobe! Just because I have kids doesn’t mean I have to look like frumpy mom. I’ve been obsessed with ILY Couture so whenever anything goes on sale, I snatch it up!
So regardless of what happens in Regionals, we have this to look froward to. It will either be a celebration of making it to Carson, CA and the Crossfit Games or me drinking my sorrows away (within reason bc I’m still nursing).
