Happy Fitness Friday! I have this need to workout. I generally feel bad about myself if I take more than 2 days off. It’s a constant battle in my head that I should be doing something. There is this little voice that says, “Go exercise or you’re going to get lazy and fat.” Maybe that is healthy, maybe not. I believe that movement is life. Once you stop moving, muscles atrophy, endorphins die down and you get used to a sedentary life. That is not something I want to pass onto my children so I choose to workout. Exercise is like eating healthy. It’s not always fun but it is a necessary part of life.
I love crossfit. Like really, really love. It is the fastest way to get in a good workout. Functional movements are everywhere. We squat, deadlift and press things everyday but we don’t call it that. Try picking up a case of water. Hey. That’s a squat and a deadlift. Throw your 8 month-old in the air. That’s press. I do crossfit to stay fit for life but I also do other things because I like to. Yoga, Pilates, golf, I love it all. Find something you love and do it. Just move and encourage your children to move with you!
