It’s Friday y’all! This has seriously been one hell of a week. I’m not going to get into the boring details but being an adult is hard. Some days, I just want to be irresponsible and nap in the middle of the day, not worry about the load and loads of laundry piling up, and/or day drink but alas…..this is my calling. The weeks when my husband is completely swamped at work are the absolute worst. He’s normally very involved with the kids, bathing them, reading books with the boy as soon as he comes home but these last couple of weeks have been hectic to say the least.
I didn’t sign up to do this shit alone. (just kidding babe 🙂 )
Life is like Crossfit because it never gets easier, you just get better at dealing with it. I have always found that I thrive well under pressure and the things I do to help are below!
1) Lift Weights and Exercise
Whenever I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I workout. It seems counterintuitive to tie up more of my time but I absolutely LOVE the crossfit west springfield community. Being able to squeeze in an hour to just have regular adult conversations and get my sweat on gives me such a boost. The more stressed my days are, the more I crave the normalcy I feel when I’m there. Exercise releases endorphins and endorphins keep me from committing murder. It’s a win/win situation.
2) Online Window Shop
My husband calls me an “emotional shopper”. I like doing projects around the house and I love organization. The Container Store and fall decorations have recently been my downfall. However, “budgets” are a part of adulting so I add lots and lots of stuff to online shopping carts and then close the browser! It’s a form of stress relief. Don’t judge me.
3) Name One Thing That Didn’t Suck
Lots of good things happen to us as a family. For instance, an amazing friend of mine found a guitar for us because she knew I had been looking for one for the oldest. This guitar was a fraction of the cost of a new one. Focusing on the positive in these long and stressful days helps stave off exhaustion. Good things are all around, you just have to see them! (I sound like a fortune cookie but it’s true)
4) Take a Bath Full of Lush Goodness
I have an addiction to Lush cosmetics. Bath bombs and bubble bars give me life some nights. Sitting in a magenta bath that smells like roses? How can that not put you in a good mood?
5) When All Else Fails, W(h)ine!
There’s something about a glass of cabernet sauvignon that makes me happy. I’m not a fan of other forms of alcohol. I hate beer, I don’t drink liquor, but a nice red wine? That’s right up my alley. The great thing about being on a 12 week diet is that it takes literally a half a glass to put me to sleep. Winning. #nonjudgementzone
