Father’s Day is quickly approaching so naturally my husband wants to take a road trip to Tennessee. That sounds absolutely
terrible awesome. How could I possibly say no? We’re leaving on Thursday and making a 13 hour trek to Memphis, TN because Graceland. Graceland has been on our destination list thanks to my secret obsession with Elvis. Ever since seeing his Cirque Du Soleil show in Las Vegas 2 years ago, I have wanted to visit Graceland.
From Memphis, we’re driving to Nashville. Makayla loves her some Blake Shelton. The Country Music Hall of Fame and The Johnny Cash Museum is on our “To-Do List”. If we have enough time, we’ll take the kids to the Nashville Zoo.
Our final stop is Dollywood. Now I must say, I am extremely excited for this because I absolutely love Dolly Parton. I could listen to “Jolene” on repeat for hours. I’m almost embarrassed to admit this. Almost.
Traveling with a family of 6 requires two rooms because the kids have grown to love their space. Fortunately, we have lots of points with Marriott so most of our rooms are comped. I’m super excited to check out the Gaylord at Nashville. I’ve heard some pretty amazing things.
If we weren’t going with the children, the Jack Daniel’s Whiskey tour would be on itinerary but there’s always next year. Mr. McKenzie has had every type a whiskey and bourbon imaginable and Old No. 7 is still his favorite. I fully support celebrating Father’s Day with no kids. “It’s my day. I can do what I want!”
If you have any other suggestions or tips for our Tennessee itinerary, post in the comments!
