But seriously. It seems like yesterday that I was super huge and pregnant in Hawaii. Now I’m 10 months postpartum! 10 months of life for my sweet little boy. I have no idea about his stats but I do know that he is so close to walking it’s scary. I secretly push him down every chance I get because once he walks, life will change drastically. He’s like a little bull in a China shop, constantly knocking shit off the coffee tables, couch, basically grabbing anything his tiny little, bow-legged self can reach.
As far as my postpartum journey goes, everything is great. Or at least it was until I started running more. I’m [supposedly] running the Army 10-miler so I’ve upped my miles in preparation for October and unfortunately, it hurts. When I was pregnant, the first thing that went was running. I can distinctly remember being 12 weeks pregnant and competing at the MAAC in 2015. The team was in first until the final that had an 800m run. It literally felt like my pelvis was being ripped apart thanks to symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD). We took second. The joys of pregnancy.
Now, even at 10 months postpartum, once I hit the fifth mile, that same pain comes back. I ran about 12 miles last week and my pelvis can definitely tell, so much so, that I’m going to see a physio this week. Running is very high impact so it makes sense that this pain is related to my increase in milage. Cleaning 165lbs, no problem. Running 6 miles? That shit hurts. I foresee a lot more wall squats, dead bug crunches and pelvic bridges in my future.
RP Before Pictures!
I’m starting the RP physique templates today because I am always up to try new things. I’m curious to see how my body will react. I am doing 3 days per week in conjunction with my other crossfit workouts. The first cycle is 5 weeks long and I’ll continue to eat my normal diet because I freaking love food. The boy and I still have a really good breastfeeding relationship so I’m not interested in the RP diet again just yet. Once he self-weans, I’ll reevaluate.
